Running an air compressor off of a generator is not recommended and most manufacturers will not cover any electrical component on an air compressor if it is run on a generator. A generator manufacturer came up with a formula for sizing a big enough generator for a compressor. The formula is FLA x 8 x voltage. If a motor is 32 amps and running at 230 volt, you would want a minimum of 59 KW generator
