I spoke with Mi-T-M about this. There is not really an option for an additional battery to have as a backup. The battery is large and heavy and not really meant to be swapped out. It does carry an 8 year warranty.

In the event of a power outage, the battery can not be charged. The next best thing is to have another battery charged on standby to replace the current one to continue operating.
